DESCRIPTION: Everbody must try the Mixed Appetizers, and for dinner Lal Mass (lamb dish cooked in rajastan style -- hot and spicy) and chicken tikka masala (little heavy). Must make the trip.

DESCRIPTION: Food I have tried the Lamb curry, vegetables. breads and teas. The food was yummy with the right blend of spices and herbs. It is definitely a "must-try" The retaurant is run by a very warm and friendly Tibetan Couple. The ambience is very comfortable too with literature on the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan movement.

DESCRIPTION: Mt. Everest Restaurant is my favorite restraunt in the DC area. Their Onion Kulcha and Garlic Nahn are, hands down, the best nahn in the city. The ambiance is unbeatable. Very mellow and comfortable.

A disgrace
DESCRIPTION: This was the worst meal I have ever had, really poor and a waste of money and an evening. The service was very slow, bordering on the rude side. The waiter mixed up the menu and served us a cold meat appertizer which resembled and tasted like dog food. The main courses faired little better with the lamb vindaloo having very little spicy taste and almost watered down and luke warm. The chicken tikka faired little better but was probably the best item on the menu. Cockroaches were present in the bathroom and doing some research this place had been previously closed down due to its poor sanitation. Beware, it's all I can say.

DESCRIPTION: Really tasty food. Served hot, fresh. Waitstaff did not hover or interrupt too much. A combination of Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan foods on the menu. The specialties are really good. More of a "neighborhood" restaurant, if a Nepalese restaurant in Dupont Circle could be neighborhoody.

DESCRIPTION: Good Food - Great People. Do admit the service can be slow so it is best to order as soon as possible. Great place to lay back, invite some good friends and enjoy the atomsphere. Also, agree with an earlier comment. On a good night you'll probably meet Neeraj G. there. Easy to spot: Loud laughs and large group of smiley, happy people.

DESCRIPTION: The Snow Lion is IMO the most elegant restaurant in Bloomington. Walk in and with some luck you'll be placed in a room nearly all to yourself, in a low-lit area surrounded by mirrors creating a terrific illusion that the restaurant, which is in fact rather tiny, is quite spacious. There are two or three Snow Lions in America but certainly Tibetan food is extremely rare. The items that are offered are excellent.

DESCRIPTION: I'm going to have to disagree with both of these reviews. Although it has a slightly elegant atmosphere, it certainly isn't a suit and tie restaurant. The layout of the building is very unique, and you'll be tempted to get up and explore while waiting for your food. It is the only place I know of to get tibetan food - and the food will blow you away. It certainly isn't a cheap truck stop.

DESCRIPTION: Simply the most delicious food I've ever tasted! The Jasha Thukpa is by far my favorite entree. The fried pita bread with hummus is a wonderful start to a meal. The homemade salad dressing is perhaps the best dressing I've ever tasted....completely unique.

DESCRIPTION: I've eaten at Snow Lion 3 times. I've been disappointed 3 times. When I asked for NO SPICES, the food was so spicey I threw up. When I asked for Thukpa, I got Lo Mein. And it's not so clean... It is certainly not the best food in Bloomington... and in Indiana? Are you nuts? There is another Tibetan restaurant in Bloomington: It's just around the corner from Snow Lion and it is TRADITIONAL TIBETAN FOOD, made by Tibetans from Tibet. Thukpa is thukpa, not lo mein. The atmosphere is much better, the food is head-and-shoulders above the Lion's... I wanted to like Snow Lion, I reallllly did. But it's just not possible! Those of you who like it, stroll around the corner and give <I>the other Tibetan place</I> a try. I'm just passionate about Tibetan food! ...and once you eat real Tibetan food, you will be too!)

Great little place
DESCRIPTION: Just North of the Monroe County Library. Great place to listen to live music and get some great food. They have several vegan and vegetarian options. The Spicy Himalayan Potatoes are delicious. Their curries are good too. Menu lists what is vegan. Decent prices and good value.

Excellent Food in a Soothing Atmosphere
DESCRIPTION: I am a regular at this place. If you're in the mood for Asian food but don't want greasy, overcooked Chinese, try House of Tibet. I love their soups, which accompany a lot of dishes. The stir fries are tasty, as are the dumplings, a Tibetan staple. The atmosphere is great too--it's dim and warm and there's always introspective Tibetan music being played. Cheap prices too.

Nothing Different!
DESCRIPTION: We had great expectations before arriving at this restaurant. After walking for what felt almost like a mile from the subway station, we were all ready for something different to whet our appetite. We had the Momo dumplings and the Vegetarian fried noodles (recommended by our waitress). The food was a total disappointment. Apart from the complimentary lentil soup that came before the entrees, the food was bland and very ordinary - something which you could have gotten from almost any Asian or Chinese restaurants. If this is what Tibetan food is all about, then I must contend myself by saying - I could have cooked it myself and probably would have done an equally good job at it - if not better. Thumbs up for the lentil soup but not for the rest of the dishes.

I Beg to Differ!
DESCRIPTION: I've been a frequent diner at this restaurant for a few years, and the food is excellent. It might not be as spicy as other Asian food, but it is very flavorful. The momos dumplings are delicious, steamed or fried. My personal favorite is the Sha Tofu with beef. The wait staff is very friendly, and I have a great dining experience every time.

Desperately Missed
DESCRIPTION: We recently moved from Somerville, MA to Tampa, FL. Sadly enough, no place exists like our favorite spot, House of Tibet. We joked that our VISA bill reflected our lifestyle, House of Tibet for nourishment and Home Depot to fix up our apartment. There was nothing quite like the cozy atmosphere, the very friendly, happy to see you staff, the cha nagmo, the sampler appetizer, the sha lagopatzel (please excuse our spelling skills). We are both skilled in the kitchen and simply cannot recreate the masterful subtleties present in many of the dishes served here! Enjoy!

Best Food in Town!
DESCRIPTION: I eat at Little Tibet at least 3 times a month. Before one morsel of food is on the table, I'm already enjoying myself -- the atmosphere is cozy, the people are friendly, and who can be anything but happy when looking at photos of Tibet and the Dalai Lama? The food is excellent! When I need comfort food, I order the Kham Amdo Thukpa. The thick noodles in this "stew" are the best part of the whole thing! The mo-mos are also amazing -- I prefer the beef mo-mos, but the chura mo-mos (cheese) are also delicious. Beware -- mo-mos are heavy and filling... and messy! While I don't care for Tibetan Butter Tea, some people take right to it. I usually order Coke or jasmine tea. And a mango lassi after dinner (or lunch) is the perfect way to end the meal. I've lived in Bloomington for over 7 years and I haven't found a restaurant that even comes close to Little Tibet!

Charming and wholesome
DESCRIPTION: Delicious and filling food spiced to your request, served in a comfortable and eclectic atmosphere that feels very homey, like a backpacker haven in Nepal on the inside and a low-key high-end granola yuppie restaurant on the outside, especially in the summer when the little white lights are on and the goldfish pond is going. Luscious dinner outside in the summer, surrounded by the scent of jasmine and spices - perfect date restaurant for the budget-minded cosmopolitan Romeo who wants to show that he's not some yoik who takes girls to Chili's. Sometimes the service is bad (from cold and distant to outright rude [...]), but if you bring good company you won't miss a thing.

DESCRIPTION: I found that the wait staff was extremely polite, something that always makes the food taste better. I have never had a bad meal and sitting outside is always very relaxing. Always satisfied
DESCRIPTION: You will find very few places in the U.S serving this kind of food. The atmosphere is intimate and the walls are cluttered with Tibetan posters and other memorabilia. Despite the humble surroundings, the food is divine. I've never had better salad dressing anywhere (I've even dined outside in the restaurant's garden in the rain just to have the house salad dressing). The chura momo (dumplings with swiss cheese and onions) is a dish that I wake up craving at night. Dine outside when the weather is pleasant.
