Mexican food that truly delivers
DESCRIPTION: Since we've eaten at Amigo's on an exclusively take-out or delivery basis, I can't comment much on the atmosphere, but our delivery service has been good. No mistakes, fairly fast and once in a while some little bonuses like an extra serving of chips and salsa. To start out; chili lovers, skip the Gringo Chili which is your usual ground beef/bean variety and go for the Texas Ranch Chili instead. Made with seasoned, shredded beef with (or without) your choice of black or pinto beans, this chili is not for the faint hearted. When fresh, it's spicy enough to leave your tongue tingling for hours - when reheated after a night in the fridge it's downright lethal (but still delicious). The same goes for the boneless buffalo wings, generous strips of white meat chicken breast served buffalo wing style with bleu cheese dressing. They are available in mild but really, what's the point? A $5.95 order can substitute as a meal if your mouth is up to it. You can also get freshly made tortilla chips served warm, though sometimes a little greasy, and salsa. If your used to boring, bottled salsa, you're in for a treat. Amigo's salsa is fresh, with crisp vegetables and a nice cilantro tang. In addition to the usual Tex-Max choices, there are a few interesting regional twists. One of these is the chourico burrito made with chunks of the grilled Portugese sausage, onions and peppers. Not a chourico fan, I must rely on my friend's recommendation - that and the fact that he gets it every time we order. Among the usual choices are soft and hard tacos, burritos, chimichangas and tostadas. They are all available with your choice of chicken, shredded beef, taco beef or BBQ pork. Some items are available in vegetable, usually broccoli, squash, onions and peppers, but in my experience they've been nearly tasteless and soggy (imagine steamed veggies in a tortilla). Several burrito combinations for the indecisive are also on the menu. I like the rice, bean and shredded beef combo. Another suprisingly good choice is the chili dog burrito. An all-beef hot dog smothered in chili and cheese, rolled in a tortilla. It's an embarassing guilty pleasure all the way All items are available ala carte or as a meal with rice, beans and cornbread for an additional $1.50. The rice and beans tend to be on the dry side, but the cornbread is good. Meals also come with a handful of chips and some salsa. Among the few menu duds is the mexican lasagna. It sounds good, layers of corn tortillas, cheese, meat(again your choice) and taco sauce but it was mushy and bland. Also, the taco beef selections can be way too salty. But the fact that you can get Mexican food delivered to your door balances that out. Inexpensive, ala carte items range from $3.95-$6.95.

A Great Saloon
DESCRIPTION: The fish and chips with cole slaw is great. The fish sandwich is probably just as good. The fish is bought fresh daily from a local outlet is is really well prepared. The waitress lives within sight of the front door and is quick to help with any of your needs (i.e., She's a real gold mine of local knowledge.)

No Hex On this Tex Mex!
DESCRIPTION: Chevy's is a great way to avoid Taco Bell and still get the Tex Mex at a reasonable price. Chips and salsa come free to pass the time you wait for the food, which is very minimal. A lunchtime wait lasts a maximum of 5-10 minutes. Of course it could seem short because I'm too busy chowing down on the free chips. The main dishes are very good as well. The atmosphere fits with the food......a salsa beat along with spanish signs posted all over the walls.
