Great Food and a Fun Time
DESCRIPTION: I have only eaten lunch here, but every time it has been very good. Lunch specials include miso soup, a lettuce salad and entr e. The cooks put on a show at your table and the food is excellent at a reasonable price. Sushi is also available, with numerous varieties to choose from. Overall a great value and a good time.

Crazy Tony Has Best Sushi In Town!
DESCRIPTION: You might not think you're in a Japanese restaurant when you first hear the reggae music playing in the background, but this place has it all! Large menu consisting of several types of Asian cuisine. If you're feeling a little adventurous, order the sushi, its the best you'll find in the area. The bar is well stocked with various beers from around the Orient. Be sure to try the sake which comes hot or cold. Prices might be a little high, but the portions are generous to say the least. Food is made from scratch so expect a little wait after ordering. Key thing to remember is not to wear a ballcap into the restaurant or you'll find out who Crazy Tony is!

DESCRIPTION: The restaurant was nicely decorated throughout yet, I would recommend sitting bar side (smoking) if age permits, due to the beautiful lighting and atmosphere. My only complaint was the service, which ran a bit slower than the usual corporately owned steakhouses around lafayette, that serve the same things over and over. It was also a bit expensive but the quality of your meal (and amount!) will more than make it worth it. I would also recommend calling ahead to check time since they are not always open... all this coming from someone who swore they hated Japanese food, you gotta try this place!

My favourite japanese restaurant
DESCRIPTION: Domo was the first place I ever tried sushi. I loved it there and have tried many places in Bloomington, Chicago, and even in New York City, but I still think that I like Domo best. The service is always great, even when they are busy. The food is always beautiful as well as delicious. The restaurant itself is nice and cozy. I recommend any of the teriyaki dishes as well as their maki mono specials. I personally have an obsession with their sweet egg sushi. The appetizers are all amazing.

terrific japanese restaurant
DESCRIPTION: My father-in-law worked for Ford and spent a LOT of time in Japan. Still, every time he visits (he lives in Detroit, which has great sushi!) we MUST, MUST go to Domo! the service is really good--very friendly and helpful. Very fresh fish, especially the salmon--it always tastes so great!--definitely the best sushi/japanese cuisine in town! We love it, and in fact we just went there this evening. The staff there know us.

Mikado Service is disappointing
DESCRIPTION: Unfortunately, because of a disappointing experience at Mikado on a rather slow Friday night, I would not recommend it to friends. Perhaps the food is worth waiting for, but we were there for 15 minutes before getting water or being greeted by a server. We had a tempura appetizer that was average. After waiting 45 minutes for our main course, we had to leave as we were late for another commitment. There are too many other good restaurants in Indianapolis for one to take their chances on Mikado. If you want good sushi and/or good service, resist the urge to waste your time and money and go somewhere else.

Best in West Lafayette
DESCRIPTION: Let me begin by stating that I know a thing or two about sushi. I've eaten sushi in countless restaurants all over the country. As is to be expected for Indiana, the quality of the fish leaves something to be desired. However, it is better than anywhere else in town. They have the best pickled ginger I have ever tasted. The atmosphere is also nicer than 95% of Japanese restaurants in the America. If you want to show someone that there is culture in West Lafayette, take them to Heisei.

Great Sushi
DESCRIPTION: I have eaten at sushi restaurants all over the United States and I have to say that Mikado is one of my favs. The crab in the california rolls is always fresh and the fish tastes like it was flown in that day. I am a big fan of Mikado and I personally recommend the tuna rolls. The service has always been great as well. Mikado is a must for any sushi lover.

skip the sushi
DESCRIPTION: The quality of fish is sub-par --skip the sushi (it is the midwest afterall, save your sushi outings for places on the coast). The regular menu is really enjoyable though - good japaenese food. The service can be slow, but I enjoy the extra time to talk with my spouse (and they're always friendly, just understaffed I think). Choose one of the combination dinners - LOTS of food and the variety is fun. When you're being seated, ask to be seated on the right side of the restaurant. The lighting is more dim and the tables are arranged in nooks and crannies that make for a more pleasant dining experience. The left side of the restaurant is very open and has just a touch of a cafeteria feel.

Asaka - Unique in Indy
DESCRIPTION: Asaka is one of the FEW genuine Japanese restaurants in the Indianapolis area, owned and run by Japanese owners and staff -- and it shows in their authentic sushi, bento boxes, appetizers, etc., and the elegant simplicity of the decor and service. While it is not to say that the PLETHORA of Japanese restaurants owned by non-Japanese individuals in this city are not good -- but they are not as wonderfully authentic and full of wonderful surprises as Asaka. Our hope is that Indianapolis will make some effort to appreciate real Japanese food. I only know how to say this phonetically, but: gochiso gozai masu (the highest praise, in Japansese, and thanks for food and hospitality).

DESCRIPTION: I have been to this restaurant ten or so times, and each time I was pretty impressed. The quality of food that you get from the buffet definitely depends on the time you arrive. Prime times for lunch are around 12:00-12:30, and for dinner 5:30-6:30. If you dine during these times, you should get fod that is fresh and warm. I must say that this is one of the best Chinese buffets around! They have suprisingly good sushi during dinner hours, and they serve a wide selection of Chinese dishes. I was thoroughly impressed with their selection of 20-30 dishes in the buffet! They also offer a menu selection, so you can get your items fresh if you wish.
