Read War and Peace before entrees arrive
DESCRIPTION: Went here on the assumption they might have decent slavic food. Order appetizers, herring and caviar spread, and piroshkis. Later are told they are out of piroshkis (?), and they bring us two orders of herring only instead. The herring is ok, and decent dill potatoes are supplied. Wait an hour for entrees (and this is at 5:30pm on a Sunday). Entrees arrive after harassing waiter. Cabbage rolls are half raw and cold, "authentic" chicken kiev looks like an artillery shell from Swanson's, Beef Stroganoff is passable but by this point we have lost our collective appetite and want to leave. The music and vodka were good, I suppose. Don't go here for the food. Bonus points: Cook is seen in mens room in full kitchen outfit, does not wash hands. Mmmmm hand rolled dumplings.

Serbian Crown--Elegant Dining in Washington, DC Area
DESCRIPTION: Russian, French & Continental Foods. Exotic meats, caviar, and wonderful desserts. Warm, cozy atmosphere in out-of-the-way place. Great for intimate dinners or corporate luncheons! Roaming musicians, and very attentive service!

Don't Bother!!!
DESCRIPTION: So there we were: two well-dressed adults with reservations last Saturday. We were not greeted at the door. We were eventually squashed behind a tiny table that was then pushed towards us, making us both uncomfortable and claustrophobic. We were ignored by the staff, and had to flag someone down to get water. The Vodka menu was plopped on the table. We sat and watched as a party that came in after us was served. We had to ask for a wine list, bread, and menus which were then dumped onto the table all at once. We felt so unwelcome that we chose to quietly leave rather than endure the place. The staff said nothing, didn't ask why we were leaving, or even seem to care. We had to search for my coat before we could finally escape. It was a thoroughly unpleasant experience and we will not go back.

Favorite Great Falls Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: Eat like a Czar and drink like a Peasant. Exotic Russian dishes servered with ice cold tumbler of vodka with a mandolin player. Ambiance is romantic with lots of red velvet and gold leaf.

The worst Restaurant Ever
DESCRIPTION: The service was horrible, the food was just ok, this place gives Serbia a bad rep, we were put at a side table, we did not receive menus until 20-30 min. later, I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy

DESCRIPTION: For 18 years we've visited this restaurant with regular (less than one year) intervals. The food has always been original and good, but the service has gone downhill tremendously! It's almost to the point we don't want to return because of it, as the prices are way up there!

Cozy Katia s features a Californified version of traditional Soviet fare
DESCRIPTION: Cozy Katia s features a lovingly-crafted lighter, Californified version of traditional Soviet fare. Large windows flank the spartan dining room, lending the tiny room an expansive feel. Live music adds either a romantic (classical guitar) or upbeat (accordion) ambience, inspiring motherly owner Katia Troosh to waltz between tables. A basket of light, chewy rye bread (from Bakers of Paris in the Sunset) greets diners. Start with an assortment of zakuski ("little bites") the beet-red vinaigrette ($4) "salad" lacks greens, but nicely blends diced potatoes, carrots, celery, pickles and beets in a light bath of olive oil. Piroshki ($2.50), fluffy pastries stuffed with beef, cabbage or mushrooms, compliment the pickled dishes and the house special, blini ($16 for 2), four golden buttered crep s accompanied by a plate of Norwegian smoked salmon, salty salmon caviar and pickled herring. The seasonal house-made jams ($2.50) and multi-layered chocolate walnut meringue torte ($4.50) are highlights.

A Must Stop when Visiting Ukrainian Village
DESCRIPTION: On an occasional visit to New York City and St. George's Ukrainian Catholic Church, a stop in to Veselka is a must. Located in the heart of the Ukrainian Village, this restaurant offers my favorite Ukrainian pierogies (varenyky), just like Mother used to make!
