Bad Food...Even Worse Service
DESCRIPTION: The quality of the dishes is well below average. The staff is completely inept, and the management is ignorant beyond belief. Although it's a nice structure, the dining rooms are too brightly lit and overcrowded. Pass on Stone Mansion.

Too Much Hype
DESCRIPTION: After hearing so many favorable reviews, we decided to dine at the Stone Mansion. We were not impressed. Although our server was very nice, the rest of the staff was quite ignorant. The food wasn't bad, but the ambiance was bright and awkward. I thought that the rooms seemed crowded and a bit ordinary. I was expecting to have a unique experience that would keep me coming back for more. I don't recommend the Stone Mansion. Didn't live up to the hype. There are a lot of other restaurants in Pittsburgh that I'd rather give my business.

DESCRIPTION: I really enjoyed everything, the service, the food, the staff was very courteous. My wife and I are planning on making the Stone Mansion a regular vist when we need a great relaxing evening.

If you are staying on the Isle of Palms or Wild Dunes, you have to eat there!

Do Not Have a Shower At Due Amici
DESCRIPTION: A bridal shower was thrown for me at Due Amici. A very expensive camera and many of my shower gifts were stolen right from the restuarant. The owner ans staff did not see this as a problem and have no interest in helping us reslove this situation. They have been very rude,

DESCRIPTION: Great food so carefully prepared fresh. Everything was served just right and everything under $20 I don't know how they have so much for so little. I had a huge Ribeye Steak for only $17 and it was great.

DESCRIPTION: New owner purchased the resort. Resort has been removed from the Chamber of Commerce due to excessive problems. They say that there have been more complaints about this resort in the last 8 months than in 18 years with all Ely businesses combined. The food that was available when we came (refused to stay in fact) was frozen pizza.

Losing Battle, He doesn't get it!
DESCRIPTION: Mike, the new owner doesn't understand the meaning of customer service. His full-service Restaurant/bar he advertises is anything but. He ran a special in the local paper advertising "Free, hot appetizers,daily,3pm until gone" Great we thought, Let's go see 'Dave' the bartender. We arrived about 3:15, We sat at the bar and ordered beers, chatted with 'Dave' a few minutes eventually asking him about the "Deal in the paper". He said you will have to talk to "Mike" because he is not sure. In a few seconds the owner "Mike" came out and I questioned him about the "special". We had a lengthy conversation about why he thought it was not cost effective for him to start up the fryer for just two people in the place. (there were a group of three other people sitting just down from us.)He had several reasons why not to do anything. Of course I made comment on the ad in the paper. He also argued about the wording. He ended up bringing out a bowl of chips. One bowl,filled half with potato chips,the other half of taco chips. We were still having conversation about cost effective ways, I said "well, If this is what you want to serve your guests,maybe you could offer some salsa or dip which is usually served with chips. his response was "I don't like salsa". Clearly a losing battle. I offered other ideas as well. (I worked in food service for 15 years.) I dont know if he took me up on it, for I have not been back since. Until I hear that "Dave" is back or the lodge gets sold to people who are experienced in Quality Control, I will not be back. It's too bad to see such a beautiful place be destroyed by a owner that clearly doesn't understand the first thing about how to run a Restaurant/bar or Lodge for that matter.

Not bad for three in the morning.
DESCRIPTION: Trolley Stop serves my mother's favorite gumbo. They use too light a roux for my taste but nevertheless it's pretty good. The seafood po'boys are also recommendable, although the choice of bread could be better the fillings themselves are well-done, especially the fried oysters. Stay away from the breakfast fare. The pancakes and waffles are nothing to write home about, neither are the grits, the eggs are heavy, and the sides are greasy.

DESCRIPTION: I must disagree with Ben about breakfast at the Trolley Stop Cafe. If your idea of a hearty breakfast is granola with sliced kiwi and star fruit,well,OK-stay away from Trolley Stop. But if you like fried eggs,buttered toast, grits, bacon or sausage or ham then this is your place. The omlettes are great and are enough for two. Cholesterol be damned!
