My Favorite in Cambria
DESCRIPTION: I like most of the restaurants in Cambria, but this is the one I never miss while staying there. The ambience is very pleasant and certainly could be considered romantic. At lunch you can dine outside, but the restaurant itself is decorated with original art work that changes periodically and is generally (in the absence of small crying children...always a risk in vacation spots) charming and quiet. There is a wide variety of dishes with regular specials on appetizers and entrees. I usually have a fish special-I believe it was mahi mahi with a fruit relish most recently, and I invariably have the soup of the day, often unusual and unfailingly delicious. My favorite dessert on the menu is the Meyer lemon tart, so good that I had to learn to make it at home. Tip: If you get it to take out, it sometimes comes with way too much whipped cream, if there can be such a thing. My mild complaint would be that on occasion when the restaurant has been full the service is a wee bit slow...but not enough to be aggravating.

Good Eats at Sandwich shop
DESCRIPTION: I grabbed a sandwich to go at this deli and it was fantastic. I had to share my pastrami sandwich with my wife it was so big.

Great little Deli
DESCRIPTION: Great big fresh sandwich and organic lemonade for lunch and my kids all got to sample the fantastic assortment of old soda pops. We even stocked up the fridge at home with Grape Nehi and glass bottle coke. Altogether fun experience in Cambria.

great soup
DESCRIPTION: What a delight. My wife and I have driven south along the coast for the last 4 weeks and samples clam chowder along the way. Then we met Alexandra at the deli with her delightful recipe for New England Clam Chowder. She's charming and her soup takes the top prize.

DESCRIPTION: Great sandwich shop in Cambria. Loved the french dip and mango tango smoothie. They even gave my dog water on the patio.

Cambria dining goldmine
DESCRIPTION: Awesome sandwich and smoothie shop. Casual dining, great food, super nice staff (hot girl on the front too). Good place to sit and watch the world of Cambria go by.

5/15/2005 Pass this one - not worth it
DESCRIPTION: This is a pretentious, pushy restaurant. Don't rely on their web site on line reservation to work. It doesn't. Servers are distracted, although there are enough empty seatings on a Saturday night. Dishes, pretentious. The coconut shrimp, over done and too much curry. The wine list, over priced and is not built to pair with the fusion asian over tone of the dishes. The lamp "lollipop" appetizer, has no flavor. The over all menu makes no sense. Dining experience without much charm. Pass this one and try a restaurant that befits the Cambria environment.

Simply Wonderful!
DESCRIPTION: I'm shocked at the other review. This restaurant is especially known for its wine pairings. The food is outstanding. Some of the best I've had in the world. We go there every time we're in town which is about once a month since we have a home in Cambria. I can't recommend The Black Cat enough! You won't be disappointed. I can only imagine that the other reviewer was just having a bad day in general.

Treasure Chest
DESCRIPTION: This lovely little seafood restaurant is a real gem. No credit cards, no reservations, no doubt about it, just really honest food, and a fantastic ocean view. Not a place to be in a hurry. They were packed as soon as they opened the doors the evening we ate there. When you seat the whole restaurant at once, you better be prepared to wait a bit. We killed the time with some wine and an apetizer of clams casino. The seafood dishes were very well prepared, not too fancy, but just plain good. There's an open kitchen that faces the beautiful Pacific sunset. Can't wait to return there soon.

Worth the Wait
DESCRIPTION: The Sea Chest has the freshest seafood in the area. I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. We were the first in line since we had heard about the wait and chose a table by the window and watched the glorious sunset over Moonstone Beach. Service is efficient and I would recommend this place to any seafood lover in the area. K. Carter

Just the BEST
DESCRIPTION: This place trully worth the wait. The best seafood. Simply prepared, but just so GOOD. IF you get a chance try to be seated at the bar. This way you can also observe the chef preparing the dishes. I can't say enough tgood things about this palce. We eat there 3 days in a row and every time it was perfect. It's going to be hard to eat seafood elsewhere.
