Definitive West Coast Dining
DESCRIPTION: From beginning to end, the Salishan Lodge offers its patrons a marvelous experience in west coast atmosphere and flavours. The menu is focused on fresh fish and other seafood, as well as specialties like duck and beef. We enjoyed the tuna tartare and crab cakes as appetizers, and followed that with pan-seared halibut with nettle fettuccine, and breast of duck in a berry sauce for main courses. The Baked Salishan was a fitting dessert. A large range of Oregon Pinot Noirs is the centerpiece of the impressive wine list. We were served by the wine steward and custodian of the renowned wine cellar. He was able to direct us to exactly the wine we wanted to match our menu choices. Dining at the Salishan is definitely pricey, but the evening is more than worth it.

Loved It!
DESCRIPTION: Just celebrated my 10th anniversary with my wife in their private wine cellar dining room. The tasting menu was outstanding. The wine pairings perfect, service was professional, friendly and knew their stuff. Our out of town guests were also very impressed. No wonder this place is so popular.

DESCRIPTION: Arcata Pizza and Deli - referred to by locals simply as APD....so yummy. Large portions, especially the sandwiches....oh my I'm hungry just thinking about it. Three people can share an order of fries, service is great. Can be difficult to get a seat, so if with others, have one guard an area while others order.

DESCRIPTION: Big portions & decent prices. Great place to run into people. Good beer. Prompt, friendly staff. Clean bathrooms. It can get extremely crowded - it's one of the few places open late at night - but it's usually pretty quiet during the day.

Quantity or Quality?
DESCRIPTION: Well, APD is one of those Arcata standbys that every poor food deprived sap in the North Coast has frequented at one time or another. Their hours are perhaps the best part of the experience, as the rest of the town closes at 8:00, while APD is open well past midnight on most nights. But then...oh. Then you have the food. Food is hit or miss at APD, and when you hit, it's really more of a solid tap - nothing spectacular, but it'll fill you up. The misses, on the other hand, are off by a mile. Don't ever order their sausage pizza or you'll be greeted by a large grease laden excuse for a pizza with pounds of sliced Kielbasa dropped on top post-baking. The main thing that APD's food has in its favor is the sheer mass of it. Their calzone, essentially a gigantic cheese pie, is enough to feed, if not an army, a small guerilla force bent on taking over this little hippy town. Their pizza is flat, limp, and soaked in grease; your paper plate will be inevitably stained yellow. That said, if you've spent the day doing something physically exerting, APD can be just the ticket. A whopping quantity of food can be obtained for a price that, while far from cheap, is palatable under the right circumstances.

The Best Place to Eat.
DESCRIPTION: APD is an amazing place. Basically, no matter what you order there, you're going to get a whole lot of food, and it's going to be very good. Truly deserving of 5 stars. Indeed, this restaurant is the best of its kind that I have eaten at, and the food is the best of its kind that I have tasted.

DESCRIPTION: The main reason APD is popular is that it is open so late. The pizza and food is pretty darn good, but not the best. I have eaten there four times now, and each time I have called in a takeout order and they tell me when to come in. Well, when I am told to come in ten minutes and I do so, only to wait over a half hour more for my food with no apology, it gets old fast. The food is never ready when they say, so go do your grocery shopping and pick up your food that will be ready in "five minutes" in a half hour. If you know to do that, then the place is really very good. The chef salad is excellent, full of meat (I buy a head of extra lettuce to add, you wouldn't believe how much extra lettuce you want to add to this!), and the all meat pizza is way too salty and greasy and I would never order it again despite loving meaty pizzas. There is a good selectiopn of sandwiches, have one on a brio roll.

Top notch
DESCRIPTION: This restaurant has everything: a breathtaking atmosphere, great food, reasonable prices and the red carpet service. It has a bar on the lower level and dining on the upper level with fireplaces and cast iron walkways and giant metal machinery. Located in the steam plant, you can tour the area and stand inside the base one of the two giant smokestacks and look up to see the sky. Great place for a date.

DESCRIPTION: Our party of 10 had 6:45 reservations and were seated in a timely manner. But it took another 20 minutes until the manager wandered by and we asked for a waitress to take our orders. We were only given 5 menus to share. No salads came with the dinners, and portion sizes were small for the price. Food was good, just extremely poor service. We were charged for an 11th meal we never ordered.

Great View, Great Service, wonderful Food
DESCRIPTION: I went to Arnies years ago for a special occassion, some how I forgot about the restaurant until recently a friend said lets meet for Happy Hour, I obliged and when I arrived the place was packed, I remember it being busy but this was crazy, while I waited for a seat to open a server approached us for a cocktail order and we proceeded to wait, I never felt like lets get out of this rat race instead it was fun to watch and listen, it sounds like the staff really enjoys what they are doing and it shows, once we got a table I was impressed the prices, the selection and finally the food came and the portions! Wow! 1/2 the price but not 1/2 the size, I wish I knew I wouldn't have ordered so much, but then again who care's I can and I did take the rest home to enjoy later. I will not wait as long to go back, I highly reccomend this restaurant and lounge. Obviously the managers and owners know something about running a great restaurant.

European Dining on Bainbridge Island
DESCRIPTION: This local bistro has some of the best food you'll find outside of France! Their sauces are incredible; try the rosemary chicken. The wine list is quite large for a small restaurant but very reasonably priced. Ambiance is romantic & relaxed. The staff very friendly willing to guide you through your meal.

DESCRIPTION: Our experience with Intaba's never ceases to amaze us. Their menu features local pasture raised meats, wild seafood, wood fired pizza, and some awesome desserts! And the ambiance is incredible, with adobe walls, a ten-foot high wood fired clay oven and soft pastel painted walls.

Decent Hippy Food

New Restaurant in BitterRoot Valley
DESCRIPTION: I tried several dishes from lunch and dinner; always good flavor, beautiful presentation, fresh large portions and cooked as ordered. Menus and more information on web page. Very clean, 2 room (with fireplaces), restaurant with nice jazz playing in the background, an attractive old Victorian home turned into a comfortable "new California-Mediterranean" style restaurant.
