false advertising
DESCRIPTION: Vincent's on the Pier ran an ad in the Newport Daily News on 9/29/05. Wed, Thur and Sunday- Join us for Dinner for 2 and a Bottle of Wine for 26.95 and gave a choice of menu selections. Not unlike specials that run at other Newport restaurants during the week. We had planned to have dinner at the Mooring with friends, but decided to try Vincents. We were seated and when we asked for the special's menu, we were then told that they were not offering it. We asked for a substitution, they offered nothing. Our waiter was new, he apologized and said other customers were drawn in by the same ad. We ended up spending $175 for basically the same meals that were offered for 26.95. There were 4 adults and 1 child dining in our group that evening.This is a lot to pay for wanting to try Vincent's on a special's night. The management needs to understand that they have not only lost business of local residents, but we have friends who run b&b's and work in the hospitality industry in Newport. Our experiences have been passed to them and will be passed to whomever they are asked for recommendations for dining in Newport. We are all constantly being asked where good restaurants are in Newport. Also the food was mediocre. On some of the dinners, the chef made substitutions without informing us. We had one person ask for Bass Ale and was informed when it was brought to him that it was the last one. When our wine was presented, another waitress was showing our waiter how to present the wine, but she was not thrilled to be teaching him and it showed. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in Newport. This one has a wonderful view but not much else....

Don't buy the oysters!
DESCRIPTION: I had dinner with 3 other people on 9th June 05. Very crowded but service OK. Oysters were $3.50 each. I ordered one dozen but received only small tasteless oysters that were not worth 0.50 cents each. I pointed that out to the attendant who later told me that the manager said " that to have good oysters they would have to charge $7.50 each. Ridiculous indeed! If you can not provide an appetizer at a decent price than do not include it in your menu just for the sake of being "chic". The best Oysters in France are called "Gillardeau" and the cost is far less than Al Fornos and the quality immensely better.

Poor Service
DESCRIPTION: My husband and I have dined at Al Forno for years. We have always enjoyed the food. We, in fact, purchased their cookbook. This past Saturaday when we arrived for my husband's birthday dinner, the wait was 2 hours plus. People who arrived after us were seated. The host was rude and condescending. He overlooked our wait time and seated people he either knew, or who must have had status. We are disappointed, and will never recommend this resaurant again. I fully intend to write to the owners. The whole experince rang of my hometown Manhattan, NY. Is this the attitude for which they are going? Pathetic!!

Le Stinko!
DESCRIPTION: We would not recommend this restaurant. Our bread was over cooked and too crunchy... tasted burned. We both ordered Caesar salads. Mine had croutons & cheese, my husband's did not have anything except lettuce & dressing. The asparagus was undercooked and almost raw. The portions were quite small for the price and we had to wait 50 minutes for our meal. Our waitress ignored us the whole time. We had to flag her down for drinks twice and then again to get our bill. We had no interest in staying for dessert. We visit Newport twice each summer and would never recommend Le Bistro to anyone. We were asked our opinion of the restaurant as we were leaving by another couple. We told them the truth and they immediately turned around and went to the restaurant next door.

Great Meal!
DESCRIPTION: Monday 3/28/05 Saw an ad in our Hotel directory (Hampton Inn) so we went downtown to Le Bistro. Seated at a table by the window overlooking the wharf we proceeded to have a great meal at a wonderful price, one entree was free! We shared a Caesar salad which they graciously split for us that had just the right amount of sacvory dressing and croutons. I had a sirloin steak with pomme fritts. it was wonderful done, just right. My wife had Sea scallops over linguni and was delighted. Service was attentative and smooth. The bread was warm, moist inside and crunchy out side.

Loved the food
DESCRIPTION: WE went in June of 05. Got there right when it opened for dinner, 5pm. Got a window seat with view of the tree but did see some harbor. The whole time we were there there was only one other couple in the place. We had a great meal, not too filling, very flavorful. My sea scallops were huge and broiled in garlic butter, served with wild rice and grilled asparagus, done al dente and perfect. The meal was not heavy, we didn't feel cheated but we didn't feel overly stuffed either. Service was okay.

DESCRIPTION: My family and I have been eating at Mr. Taco for years from way back when he was very small...the food is still excellent and I always enjoy eating there. I recommend it to all my friends.

Our favorite place to get together
DESCRIPTION: My family and I have been eating at Mr.Taco since 1981, when it was a tiny,mainly take-out place. We sometimes go there 2- times a week ( the prices are great too) Over the years the food remains excellent and the service friendly. Mr.Taco always seems to have the greatest waite staff. Best Margaritas in RI,too. I recommend it to everyone. When friends from Iowa,Maine,Florida and Washington state come to visit it's always the first place they want to go.

Excellent Mex dining
DESCRIPTION: We go to Que Pasa/Mr. Taco pretty frequently - excellent mexican meals. What to order? - take your pick, they're all great ! ...as a matter of fact, we're heading out there in about 10 minutes for lunch.

rent the room downstairs
DESCRIPTION: We too visit Mr. Taco often. We have even rented the downstairs for a couple private functions. You feed a group of 15 to 20 in privacy with your own private bar for less than $200 including tip! Beat that! We always find ourselves there on May 5 for Cinco de Mayo. Love their food!

A family tradition for many years.
DESCRIPTION: My family and I have eaten at Mr Taco's since they opened in that little hole in the wall in Natick. We watched how the owners have paid attention to the details of kepping the prices low and the quality high. For an over all value you can not beat it. The service is is always wonderful and You will enjoy the decor. Mr Taco's is a tradition for us and we hope it will yours also.

I need to seek help
DESCRIPTION: I frequest Mr. Taco so often it is absurd. I think its because I disovered it fairly recently and need to make up for it. Or could it be that you can get a pitcher of Bass for $9. $9!!!! Thats how much a budlight bottle costs in NYC. Ooooo I love Mr. Taco....que pasa? Nada.

New for Brunch
DESCRIPTION: The evening menu is an unknown, but the brunch is special. The lobster Benedict (piled high with lobster meat and covered in creamy hollandaise) is particularly noteworthy. But if you are really hungry, try the Italian toast. (French toast made with Italian bread covered in fresh fruit.) You will not want to eat again for at least 24 hours.
