Best Greek & Lebanese in B.R.
DESCRIPTION: This is a very good restaurant with reasonable prices. I especially like to get the vegetarian platter since it offers a lot of variety. There are several locations in Baton Rouge. I believe the Corporate Blvd. location to have the best food. Their vegetarian mousaka is awesome. I do not like their greek salad, I think they need to work on it. The leaves of lettuce are too big and it is drowning in a white dressing. I prefer a vinaigrette with feta cheese topping. They are flexible with the menu, too. If you order something and do not want a side order, they generally will substitute out for something else of equal or less value. I never get the salad, I substitute for hommus or baba gannouj (sp?). Anyway, it is a good restaurant and it is where I go when I get a craving for Greek and Lebanese. They also have lunch specials. Check it out!

Best Greek & Lebanese
DESCRIPTION: When I lived in Baton Rouge, I would frequent Albasha's at least two to three times a week, now since I've moved out of state, when I go back to Baton Rouge, I go directly there, even before I see my children. I've tried to get them to open a resturant here in Texas, but..... Anyway, I really miss the food. Nothing that is even close here in Texas, anyway, the places I've tried.

Unbelievable
DESCRIPTION: I was a good sport about going to this restaurant the first time at someone else's insistence...boy, I'm glad I did. It was crowded, but we were seated and seen to immediately. Tried three different appetizers...all wonderful. I had the tilapia and it was so tasty. Had the leftovers for lunch the next day. Service was great, and I also enjoyed the Lebanese tea there. (Stick with Community coffee though!)

I LOVE THIS PLACE!
DESCRIPTION: I am a lifetime Louisiana resident, originally from New Orleans (we are known for our good food). This place is great and has the BEST eggplant moussaka. I make special trips to Baton Rouge to eat there. Interestingly enough, a waiter at another local restaurant and I were talking about how good Alabasha's food is while I was eating at the other restaurant!

Hummus from Heaven
DESCRIPTION: Being a student at nearby Tulane University, I frequent Lebanon's when in town. Service is usually great, the atmosphere is conducive to conversation, the food is great, and the price is right. Alfresco seating is available, and if you're lucky you won't be downwind of a smoking student (Tulane's a chimney.) Despite the name, the owner and many of the recipes hail from Iraq. Warm pita and a silky, perfect hummus drizzled with quality olive oil and topped with a sprinkling of sumac and seasonings forms the base of each meal. (Rice is available, but I don't recommend it.) For students on a tight budget, a well-seasoned lentil soup, gyros on pita, or eggplant sandwiches are all great and under $5. Dinner is also affordable, usually no more than $10-$15/person. Items to pass up are the hummus with roasted lamb and the lula kebab; both are bland. Recommended are the well-seasoned kibbeh or falafel, a homemade gyros, and grape leaves stuffed with lamb and rice. Most dinner items are available as appetizers, along with faul (a hummus-like preparation made with fava beans), Indian-style samosas, and labneh; one possibility when out in a group is to eat tapas-style and sample a bit of everything. Take the opportunity while here to skip the coke or the New Orleans-style "sweet tea" and sample some more exotic fare. Available are spearmint and sage iced-teas (both refreshing), as well as a house blend called "Lebanese tea" made with instant sweetened tea, lemon, rosewater, and pine nuts. However strange it sounds, it's good. On occasion, Lebanon's is understaffed and hence the waitstaff seems inattentive, but they're always friendly and accommodating.

Good for quick lunch
DESCRIPTION: I have eaten at Arzi's probably 25 times in the last 10 years. I always get the same thing, the Chicken Schwarma plate. It is good, predictable and usually quick. If you like Greek/Lebanese food, this is a good try for lunch. Nothing fancy, the building is old, but it is accecptable. The bathrooms are nasty, though! (Men's, anyway.)
