"Garlic and Rosemary Steak" from Shalom Beijing, Brookline, MA
2 tb Olive oil 1/2 c Soy sauce 1/4 c Balsamic vinegar OR red wine vinegar 8 lg Garlic cloves, minced 4 ts Dried roasemary, crumbled 1 2 inch thick top sirloin steak (about 3 1/2 lbs.) Combine first five ingredients , pour into a liquid tight container or plastic bag, then add steak. Refrigerate overnight, turning occasionally. Bring steak to room temperature. Preheat broiler 5 minutes. Remove steak from marinade and pat dry. Transfer marinade to heavy saucepan. Broil steak to desired doneness, about 10 minutes per side for rare. (125 degrees.) Transfer to platter. Let stand 10 minutes. Bring marinade to a boil. Thinly slice steak across grain. Arrange on platter. Serve, passing marinade separately. DESCRIPTION: Previously known as "Shalom Hunan," the name of this Glatt Kosher Chinese restaurant changed when it came under new management. Besides Chinese dishes, they also offer sushi. The decor is typical of suburban Chinese restaurants, and is bright and clean.\n\nLocated at the corner of Aspinwall St./School St. and Harvard St. on the edge of Brookline Village, there is a very small parking lot at the side of the restaurant, but more parking is available on the street. The #66 bus stops in front of the restaurant. It is several blocks from the D (Brookline Village) and C (Coolidge Corner) branches of the MBTA Green Line.

DESCRIPTION: The food served at Taam China was decent and fresh-tasting. However, the service was horrible. We were constantly rushed into ordering, eating, and finally, asked to leave immediately after paying the bill so that another party could have the table. To add to the "charm," the waitress literally threw the fortune cookies on the table. Good food, bad service. I will never return.

DESCRIPTION: Outstanding food in an informal environment. The pizza is excellent, even when compared to non-kosher pizza. The staff are always friendly, and there's always a lot of energy in the restaurant. It can be a bit noisy, so I wouldn't recommend it for a nice romantic dinner, but overall this is a great place to eat.
