What a jewel!
DESCRIPTION: Dined at the Dharma Cafe on a recommendation from a friend. This is one of Houston's treasures in the field of dining. Small, quaint setting in an old warehouse building and the atmosphere is intimate and warm. Service was great and the food was even better. Reservations recommended. This charming and delightfully cozy restaurant is a welcome relief from the usual Houston churn and burn establishments. Dharma Cafe is fresh food, great ambiance, and delightfully charming from the beginning to the end. A must visit !

Best Food in Central Texas
DESCRIPTION: I have traveled quite a bit and thie is a real jewel. Chef Garry Botbyl is CIA trained. His restaurant has genuine flavors provided by the herb garden behind this carefully restored 1920s building. You feel like you are in New York while your taste buds confirm the sensation. The menu changes with the seasons.

Soo Glad You're Here La Tortue
DESCRIPTION: From the moment you enter the door, you know you've entered someplace special. The "restored building" is a story unto itself. The salads are great. The soups are equally satisfying. Not to be outdone, the entrees will amaze you. I suggest the tenderloin or grilled salmon. The Gourmet Burger will blow you away too! Don't be surprised at the outstanding Caesar salad. Most likely the finest location in Central Texas for an incredible and memorable evening meal. After a long day in "the business", we appreciate the attention to the "details"! Bon appetit.

Slow Fresh Food
DESCRIPTION: The menu varies with the seasons. Dishes are liberally seasoned using fresh herbs from the garden behind the restaurant. The last time I was there a bewildered chubby couple sat down, reviewed the menu, then exclaimed "there is nothing here for us to eat" and left. They wanted BBQ or a hamburger and left. This restaurant is not for that kind of diner. It is so sad that people like this miss out on some of the best things in life. Usually there are three kinds of fish, fresh vegetables, a risotto, perhaps a vegetarian dish, and a filet mignon. Lunches are a spectacular bargain serving smaller portions of dinner at under $10.00 a person. Garry and his wife Kim give you a folksy welcome to this small restaurant in historic downtown Brownwood. They do not have a liquor lisence. You may bring your own wine, there is no corking fee. They also make all of their own desserts including some amazing ice creams and sorbets. My favorite flavor is fresh peppermint chocolate chip. Reservations are a good idea and help the staff prepare you the freshest food and best service. Called The Turtle because the slow shall inherit the earth.

DESCRIPTION: On a good night the entrees will rival the best of Chicago, New York or San Francisco as far as overall quality and taste. I have not been on a bad night. It is a blessing to have a restaurant of this quality in Central Texas.

La Tortue Assimilated by the Americans
DESCRIPTION: Yes, once again, the U.S. of our A.s has successfully assimilated (read:liberated?) another geographical entity. This time, the hidden agenda was to own an amazing selection of gourmet cuisine (instead of oil), but the general idea remains the same. Given our recent struggle with doing the same in Iraq, overpowering a small Central Texas restaurant must have seemed a more reasonable and attainable goal for the Powers That Be. Or--that's the only reason I can imagine that the quaint "La Tortue" has become plainly "The Turtle", effectively losing all its initial intrigue and mystique. All this with a minimal human and hardware cost, so we got that going for us. Once I got over the confusion, of which I was quickly set right by the perky and appropriately informed server, I began perusing the menu. Extraordinary! I couldn't decide. So, my new and steadfast goal is to try everything...not in one night, of course. I shall return until I've sampled the entire menu's offerings and will even order desserts with every meal, rotating through the exquisite choice of benedictions for as long as my survey takes. (Yes, as a martyr, I'll take one in "the name of science and the glory of experimentation"!) This place is great. Enjoy! Go back...again, and again, and again. Who would have thought that Brownwood could sustain something like this? But I'm glad they have...so far. It's up to US to make sure T.T. continues to add culture, enjoyment and culinary stimulation to our area. One more thing, along those lines: Forsake Starbucks---hang out here for coffee and Danish and conversation. The coffee is as good as I've ever tasted, and the desserts, well, let's just say that being a martyr has never tasted this good. Go, Turtle! The slow shall enherit the earth, indeed! Oh, yeah--tip your servers well. They work for peanuts.

DESCRIPTION: We stayed in Medina Tx. for 6 weeks in 1999?. On numerous occasions we visited the Fool Moon.( I felt like a fool when I tried to pick up the glued down quarter on the front step) I asked for the recipe for the great French Toast. You said if you told me, you'd have to kill me. I don't know why I didn't think of this then. Take my wife! THANKS, you and your food were great!

Chic Dining in a Cowboy Town
DESCRIPTION: Too often the culinary fare offered by small Texas towns is limited to the local Dairy Queen. In Bandera, however, that is not the case. The Fool Moon is a great place to eat. The food is fresh and reasonably priced.

I LOVED this place!
DESCRIPTION: The atmosphere, the service, the FOOD was ALL wonderful! I can't speak highly enough. My husband and I went for lunch on July 4th. The young men running the place did such a great job, I was impressed. My husband asked for a slice of pie after our meal.. the fellow who waited on us walked out to the front "garden" and picked a mint leaf as garnish. I just thought it was a nice added touch. The pie was to die for! Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious!

My Favorite Restaurant
DESCRIPTION: I've been going to Fool Moon for over 6 years now and have never been disappointed. The brother/sister team are so fun and I never hesitate trying anything they offer. Friday night BYOB dinners are great and the atmosphere is just what I was craving in a small town.

DON'T GET FOOLED!
DESCRIPTION: I have been going to the Fool Moon for 5 years and have always been blown away by what the chef/owner Jason Boyd has done, however, he has since sold the place and the quality is now horrible. I found out that he opened a new place in town.
