Tasty Thai on the West Side
DESCRIPTION: We ate at Phnom Penh one Tuesday night after getting many good recommendations about the place from friends. They have a varied selection Thai food with many vegetarian choices available. Their appetizers are small, but inexpensive. Their main courses are big enough for at least one meal (I brought half of mine home, one of my friends ate all of his there) and they have some interesting deserts, too. I started with a vegetarian spring roll, which came with some tasty dipping sauce. One of my companions had skewered chicken, which came with a peanutty paste on the side. We both had medium Pad Thai, and let me warn you: there is a big difference between the normal and the medium pad thai. The medium was almost too hot for me, and I'm a lover of spicy foods, so that's saying something. I can't imaging how hot the next two levels of spiciness are. Phnom Penh has a few exotic drinks available, made from fruits that we'd never heard of before but were delicious. The menu is long and detailed, so if you're wondering what something is, you won't need to ask the waitress to find out. Our only caution is that refills on soda are not free, so make sure you ask for some water, too, especially if you're going to be having something that's on the spicy side.
