Great
DESCRIPTION: This is a place that contains a very specific crowd, so if you feel uncomfortable around the gothic, coffee house types, this is not the place for you. But, if you enjoy a great cup of coffee, and don't want to pay $5 for a small, this is the place for you. There is occasionally a live band, and there are chess boards, and a quaint loft. The owners also own the connected used bookstore, that always has a great selection. Mostly the crowd is of high school aged students, but occasionally you get the college student, or odd "adult".

DESCRIPTION: The place is very atmospheric, considering a lot of people are stoned when they come in. But whther you're against it or not, the hot chocolate is excellent. A lot of people will buy a magazine at the sister store and drink coffee at South Side.

DON'T DO IT!
DESCRIPTION: Where should I begin? After waiting fifteen minutes for a booth in the back corner, we were greeted by the most rude waitress that I've ever had. She made blasphemous remarks, told us that she didn't have time for our questions or indecisions, wouldn't get us refills, and was just entirely rude. I went to a manager. We were given a new waitress. She was pleasant. When our food came out, every single order for my party of seven was wrong- every single order. A friend of mine ordered bacon, sausage and eggs. He didn't get any bacon, his scrambled eggs were running all over his plate, and his sausage was a straight up hamburger patty. NOBODY ate their food. I went back to the manager. He offered to buy us dessert. I just wanted to leave. A new waitress came to our table and took our order. She told us that she wasn't even going to process our orders for ten minutes because she was busy with her own station. We waited fifteen minutes before getting up. The manager came to our table. I told him that we just wanted out. He then told me that he would make it up for us on our bill. The man had the nerve to hand me the bill back with a $10 discount. I was absolutely disgusted. The least expensive meal on our bill was $9.75. Nobody ate any of the food. My hash browns that were frozen in the middle were not even taken off the bill. We paid and left. This was the absolute worst experience that I've ever had.

Nice local brew, mediocre pub fare
DESCRIPTION: Tied house is a brew pub and a serious brew pub for that matter. Order their 8 beer sampler to get an impression and then focus on your favorite (mine was the amber ale). You can skip the food or just order something to nibble on while you drink. They also have a "fill your own keg" service for those of you that have home kegs.

Wonderful family owned coffee shop in downtown Sunnyvale
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I have been frequenting this coffee shop for years. They use real chocloate syrup in their mochas, not the powdery stuff. Van and Amy, the owners, provide wonderful customer service, recognizing most of their regulars by name. They have recently expanded to include hot and cold foods, as well as fruit smoothies in addition to the usual assortment of pastries. The restaurant also offers Wifi (Wireless Internet) access.

Great Cafe
DESCRIPTION: I go to a lot of cafes, and this is among my favorites. It is also my "regular" cafe, and has been for six years. It is straight-forward, with very good coffee, a nice atmosphere, friendly employees, and nearly always a chess game going on. Plus they have wifi access. Great cafe!
