Great Pastries and Baguettes
DESCRIPTION: I stopped by with my wife on our way to the Dupont Circle farmer's market early on a Sunday morning. When we walked in there was a case on our right with pastries and croissants behind the glass. I ordered a chocolate croissant and my wife ordered a croissant. We also ordered a baguette and some pastries to go. We also ordered some cappacino (for me) and some cafe au lait for my wife. As the cafe is cafeteria style, we grabbed a table and I took the receits back to the coffee bar to get our drinks. Everybody was cheerful and friendly. There were many people speaking french in the cafe - it was quite nice. The tables were small and the chairs were tiny - but the ambiance was not bad at all. The croissants were flaky and delicious - they reminded me of my last trip to Paris. The chocolate croissant could have used a bit more chocolate - there was a single stripe of bitter dark chocolate running through the pastry. The coffee was just right. When we got home we tried the baguette - it was absolutely perfect. Hard on the outside, soft and spongy on the inside. Our biggest treat was the pastries - I tried a chocollate bag - it was a small bag made of chocolate and filled with a rich dark chocolate mousse. Wow - great stuff! It was not too sweet like so many mousse desserts you find in the US. My wife tried the rasberry mousse. Also very good and bursting wit flavor.

Amazing Chai
DESCRIPTION: I go there every day for my morning chai. They have all the provisions necessary for making the perfect cup, and the people that work at the establishment are very friendly and helpful. It has the feel of a really great neighborhood coffee place. They also serve delicious desserts, muffins and other baked goods that are all cooked on the premises.
