Expensive but worth the money
DESCRIPTION: I've eaten there on a few occasions. The restaurant is very classy, quiet, ritzy looking and elegant, lit mostly by candlelight, great for a romantic dinner. All I've ever eaten was the steak, which was cooked exact to order. The waiters and waitresses are attentive, without bothering you. They take care of you, but don't spend the whole time hounding you. Everything was prepared perfectly and all in all it's worth every penny spent.

Quite Good!
DESCRIPTION: Consistently well-prepared dinners. While known for their prime rib, I am a fan of the salmon. Also, don't let the extra dollar deter you: order the gorgonzola salad dressing. Delicious. The service is great, and the setting perfect for this little mountain town.

Hot Waitress
DESCRIPTION: I went with my wife and we had this beautiful waitress named KD who was a teacher at Pisgah, she was very helpful. She got a nice tip from me.

DESCRIPTION: We have eaten at Manero's restaurant for years when Art Ternan owned it, the food was much better then J.R's ever could hope to be. A big disappointment including the management - they were not trained by their grandfather.

A Great Family
DESCRIPTION: I had the honor to work for this family for a year and I will say that I would work for them again if I was still in NC. Rick dedicates his life to that building and upholds the highest quality of service, food, drinks, and expects that of his employees. 1 bad review is tiny compared to the huge numbers of dinners his does in 1 night, everynight.

Good meal
DESCRIPTION: We ate dinner there September 2005 and had really excellent prime rib. My husband enjoyed the key lime pie. I had strawberry shortcake which was kind of odd -- vanilla ice cream and apparently frozen berries plus whipped cream on top of a piece of pound cake (?). Quite palatable, though. Service was good.

Very Disappointing
DESCRIPTION: The tap water is fine, but I can't tell you about the quality of the food at Baby Back Joe's. That's because, after waiting for more than an hour, we were never served. Granted, we were seated within 5 minutes and we were waited on about 10 minutes later. After that, we waited. And then we waited. And then we waited some more. (Yes, I had ice water.) By nearly 9pm at night, our section of the restaurant had cleared out. Empty tables surrounded us. Several groups of people who had been seated after us, had already been served. In fact, one such group finished their meals and left. We were still waiting. When we asked, our waitress declined to give any explanation but did guarantee us (three times) we would receive free dessert. We waited another 10 or 15 minutes and left without ever receiving any food at all. Next time we want ribs or BBQ, we'll keep going to our local favorite, not to this unfortunate newbie. At Baby Back Joe's, a very disappointing dining experience was had by all.

Great Pork Sandwich
DESCRIPTION: I have eaten in the dining room once and ordered take out twice and the food is consistently delicious. The dining room service was a little slow, I was there at lunch. The food is great though and honestly, I don't usually eat BBQ. Try it and form your own opinion.

Tasty!
DESCRIPTION: I've eaten at Baby Back Joe's 4 times since their opening. They have a great pulled pork sandwich and their baby back ribs are to die for. I haven't tried anything else on the menu yet. The staff that waited on my family were very polite and courteous.

Mixed Review
DESCRIPTION: Our first meal we dined in. Our family found the staff to be courteous.The food was hot,plentiful, and tasty. We left pleased. Our second meal was a take out order I had gone in to place and wait on. While waiting, one customer who ate in complained on poor service and his fried okra being hard. While another was picking up an order to go, found his order was wrong food items. My order was missing the fried corn nuggets(the first thing I ordered, because the wife really liked them and was clear to get them was not on the ticket) and we received no hushpuppies which are listed on the menu as coming with the meal.

DESCRIPTION: Baby Back Joe's is my family's favorite restaurant. My husband loves their pork spare ribs and my son and I always share a rack of baby back ribs -- which are the best I have ever eaten!! Their cole slaw is also the best we have ever had.

Excellent BBQ, Excellent Service
DESCRIPTION: Don't know where those other people ate, be every time I've been to Baby Back Joe's the food and the service has been excellent! The BEST baby back ribs around...we used to drive to South Carolina for BBQ, but no more! Ribs and beer at Joe's does the trick! And the sides are really great, too! Love the sweet potatoes!

Good atmosphere, simple food.
DESCRIPTION: I tried the Grilled Tilapia, and chose Mashed Potatoes (no gravy) and Grilled Zucchini and Squash as my two vegetable sides. The Grilled Tilapia was tender, flaky, and excellently seasoned (some sort of rosemary/thyme/basil mixture?). The Mashed Potatoes were almost without flavor, and had the consistency that seemed to say they were from powdered mashed potatoes. (They might have been better with gravy, but being a vegetarian, I passed up.) The Grilled Zucchini and Squash was delicious, and complemented well the Tilapia. The seasonings were well-chosen and not overbearing. Tasted suitably fresh for being such a popular local vegetable. The portions were adequate. Might be plenty for people who are not big eaters. The atmosphere was very nice. The tables are made from (reproduction?) millstones, and the dining area is very well decorated. The waitress was very polite and friendly, and was attentive without being intrusive into dinner conversation. I would not recommend this to anyone who is on a low-fat, vegetarian, or vegan diet. While the food for the most part was very tasty, and well represented the Southern heritage of the area, there were no vegan dishes except for a green salad, and one or two vegetarian dishes (counting a toasted cheese sandwich as a "vegetarian dish") The price of the meal was appropriate to the dishes
