You Must Eat Here!
DESCRIPTION: I come to Bar Harbor every year and I have to have at least two nights at 124 cottage street. The salad bar is amazing! Everything is so fresh. From the bread to the veggies and don't forget the seafood.

great atmosphere and food
DESCRIPTION: It was a great pleasure to dine at this restaurant. The waitress was very nice and checked on us often! The food was very well prepared and at a great price, the food was also cooked to perfection. I think this is a great family restraunt and am sure I will be returning often!

Horrible service
DESCRIPTION: Yesterday my husband and I renewed our wedding vows. We have enjoyed 40 years together. Our grown sons decided to help us celebrate by treating us to dinner at the Colonial Restaurant. There were 13 of us, six adults and five young children. We had reservations, we arrived on time but they were not ready for us and we waited almost a half hour to be seated. We then waited another fifteen minutes for menus. We asked that milk be brought right away for the two year old. We asked three times before it was finally brought to the table. We ordered, and an hour later we still had no food and no sign of our waitress. By now we have a crying, hungry toddler. Finally the waitress appears and we ask what happen to our meals. She goes to check and comes back with a tray of food, for the adults. She comes back about ten minutes later with food for the children, but "forgot" to order one of their meals so our ten year old grand daughter now has to wait while they prepare her meal. We now have a crying toddler, a crying ten year old and some very angry adults. From here things just got worse. The waitress offered to "make things right". The bill was over $200.00 for all of us and they offered us a couple of $10.00 gift certificates. Never have I been in a restaurant where the service was so bad. And NEVER have I been in a restaurant where they served the adults first. They ruined what was supposed to be a perfect day for me. I will never go back there.

DESCRIPTION: It will reopen soon as "the Gateway"... Weird name if you ask me... They have a sign with a painted garden gate this is ajar.....Wow.....Freudian...this is a restaurant not a flashback.....strange world, isn't it?
