DESCRIPTION: Although menu is vast, I only eat their wings. I once asked for ugali kachumbari and stew to take out, and went to the kitchen only to my amazement found the cook mixing the kachumbari with bare hands! Use gloves people. Also, on a different occassion was handed a doggie box with a dead cocroach in it. eeeew.

Best Authentic East African Cuisine In Town
DESCRIPTION: Food variety is awesome. My best dish is beef stew & chapati. The house soup is fantastic too. The service is poor however. The slow stone-faced waiters just mess up what would otherwise be a perfect dinning experience (what with the great decor & a state of the art kitchen). The tuskers rock (nothing beats having a cold one after a long tough day at work).

excellent food
DESCRIPTION: Good tasty food for a mere $10 and they do have the real Kenyan sausages. Do not foget to include a tusker with your order. There is room for improvement on the service. However, the atmosphere is pleasent with great music playing in the back ground.

good food, very poor service
DESCRIPTION: I have to admit the food is good, but the only problem is the service which is horrible. I have been there more than 5 times and everytime i always wonder if i should tip or not cause i have to go to the kitchen to get a server, to wait on our table. There is definetly a lot of improvement that is required on that department.......

DESCRIPTION: Look hard. It's around the corner from Woodley restaurant row on Connecticut Avenue. You have to be curious about the ethnic nature of this food and Afghan culture to be motivated to go there. A pleasant but by no means stellar experience.

Best restaurant I've found in DC
DESCRIPTION: I've only been here 3 months and have tried all but 2 restaurants in Woodley Park and numerous others in Cleveland Park, Adams Morgan, and Dupont Circle. This is hands-down my favorite in terms of taste, quality, and price. The food is so fresh and the dishes allow you to actually taste the vegetables or meats--sometimes Indian food seems to be the same sauce swimming on different meats or veggies. The sauteed pumpkin was amazing, and the lamb kebabs were so juicy but tender! The ambiance is very nice also-small but cozy and romantic.

DESCRIPTION: The flavors in every dish I have tried here are fantastic. Very fresh crisp taste to everything. The lamb was excelent and not tough like lots of other kabobs I have had, and the sauteed pumpkin was wonderful.

Unauthorized credit card charges
DESCRIPTION: My wife and I ate at Afghan Grill a week or two ago -- we'd been meaning to try it for a while and were really looking forward to it. The food was adequate, but the service was absolutely appalling. We were so angry that we did not leave a tip. When I got my credit card bill a few days later, I discovered that the restaurant had placed an unauthorized charge on my credit card in an amount just about equal to what the tip would otherwise have been. Consider yourselves warned.

Well Worth the Trouble
DESCRIPTION: I was a regular customer at the Afghan Grill for 2 years when I worked in the area but I had not been back for months until last night. I had to wait for a table and then a bit for service, but the food was even more amazing!!! I was told the owner is cooking again-no wonder there was a line on a weeknight. By far one of the best restaurants in Woodly-Adams Morgan.

Worth the Effort - Even from Ashburn
DESCRIPTION: Easily one of my top 5 restuarants in the DC area. The food is consistently fresh and favorful. The chef, who personally checked in our our table, shops for the freshest ingredients daily, and this is evidenced by the taste. The pumpkin is possibly the best appetizer I have ever eaten. Don't go expecting to get a typical fast-food type kabob meal, this transcends by comparison. I recommend reservations, as the Afghan Grill is quickly becoming the worst kept secret in DC eating. If you leave hungry, it's your own fault. One of the best values in the DC market, which can be pricey for those eating out...Not here though, great taste and reasonable cost.
