Lycos and Qumana Join Forces…

[?]

Wow, I get a day or two behind, and look what I miss.  Lycos - one of the Big Names in Internet - and Qumana - one of the Big Names in blogging - have joined forces to present the Lycos-Qumana Blog Editor, and the Lycos-Qumana RSS reader.  Through the Lycos-Qumana alliance, Lycos is also offering easy one-stop blogging through their Tripod service.

Want more hype?  Try this one on for size.  Wired News (a service of Lycos) bloggers are now posting more efficiently thanks to Lycos-Qumana.

Ads by AdGenta.comWant even more?  Lycos-Qumana now presents a Mac version, as well as the PC version we’ve all come to love.  What are the differences between Lycos-Qumana, and plain old Qumana?  Well, none that I can see, besides the branding.  This means that everyone enjoying the Lycos branded version is enjoying the same Qumana featureset, and ease of use, that many have come to love.

Let’s not forget that Quamana’s AdGenta program has been re-branded as well.  Welcome to Q-Ads. The same AdGenta program, with a spiffy new name.

Take some time and go check out the hype at the Qumana Blog.  This should be an interesting partnership, and I’m definitely going to see where Lycos and Qumana go, from here.

Hey thanks for the write up! Yep the applications are pretty much the same. Also we’ve fixed a good number of bugs in the latest beta release, certainly worth the update (and the update is as seemless as ever!).

This is an exciting deal … this new push by Lycos into the blogosphere (they’ve had blogs for a while) is just the first step. I know cool stuff is coming down the road!

    Thanks again.

Woot! I look forward to seeing what comes from Qumana/Lycos.

…is it a buyout, or are you guys staying seperate entities, but partnering?

  4. Tris says:

A good old-fashioned partnership. Two companies with mutual interests working together.

    Nice, huh?

Partnerships are rare in today’s Internet. It’s great to see one pop up, especially between a major Internet leader and a smaller company!

I agree it is very rare. This is an exciting partnership. Lots of great people at Lycos. And as a historical note, one of the directors of Qumana was one of the orginal founders of Lycos (he doesn’t work for them any longer).
