New Amateur Blogging Blogs…
There are two new amateur blogging blogs on the scene, in the past month. First, we start with Amblogger. Amblogger is the brainchild of Vince Chan (of VinceChan.net and Investorial.com fame). Amblogger is described (on its about page) as being, “the Blog that is proud to be amateur and to help amateur bloggers squeeze every ounce of fun from blogging about their passion!”
Amblogger appears to be concentrating more on blogging than on monetization of amateur blogs. Vince looks like he’s pretty spot-on with what the amateur blogging market needs, right now. A website dedicated to the passion of blogging.
Amblogger had a bit of a rocky start, coming under heavy fire for using Problogger.net’s template layout without permission. After being asked to remove the template by Darren Rowse (owner of problogger.net), Vince did the right thing and changed the template. The hullabaloo cost him an easy start-up, though. For several days, his feedburner chicklet listed zero (0) readers of his feed, and it is now only showing sixteen readers. Then again, he’s nearing my mark (I have around 22 readers of my feed at any given moment) after having only been around for about a month.
Where Amblogger is concentrating on the passion of blogging (and blogging, in and of itsself), SmackDash is covering the amateur monetization niche. The brainchild (and impulse blog) of Justin Shattuck (of JustinShattuck.com fame), SmackDash is self-described as being a blog, started on impulse, focused on monetization and money making through amateur blogging. As Justin puts it, “It doesn’t take $100.00 a day via Adsense to define a blogging professional. Simply, dedication, passion and the ability to type forty words per minute!”
Justin has already been in contact with me about writing for SmackDash, and I most definately appreciate the offer. I’ve told him I would give it some very serious thought, and after reading through his blog, I’d let him know. I want to make sure I can contribute along the lines of what he’s writing, before I dive into another blogging project, headfirst.
The third amateur blogging blog, soon to be on the scene, is mine. That’s right, I’ll be seperating MindFyre into at least two blogs. It’s no secret that the majority of readers come to read my posts about blogging and web technologies. It’s also no secret that every time I stop posting blogging-related goods, and move to other topics that interest me, my traffic (and earnings) take a nose dive. Therefore, I’ll - in the near future - be seperating the blogging portion of this blog. I have yet to decide whether I’ll leave it on the main domain, or whether I’ll take it to a subdomain (such as blogging.fyreplace.com), but either way, it’s time to make a name for myself, and my blog. I’m projecting the seperation to take place by April 1st. It would be a good deal sooner than that, but I’m already backlogged on projects, and it takes a lot of time to set up and populate a new blog.
Who knows. Perhaps the three newest amateur blogging blogs will form the first amateur blogging network. (No, no, we haven’t been discussing it. It’s just a thought that occured to me).
Stay tuned to fyreplace.com, amblogger.net, and smackdash.com for more details in the amateur blogging arena.
